Jean Coblentz’ record of Mid-Peninsula community involvement spans five decades and numerous organizations, including Avenidas, where she served on the board for six years. In 1947, her senior year at Stanford, Jean was “tapped” for Stanford’s Cap and Gown, the Women Leaders Honor Society; she went on to co-found the organizations’ board in 1953, and has remained involved ever since. Bill Floyd has been involved in community service at the local, regional, and statewide levels. A former vice president and director at Sierra Chemical Company, Bill has chaired and served on the boards of many local nonprofits including Lytton Gardens, Community Housing, Inc., YMCA of the Mid-Peninsula, Children’s Health Council, and Avenidas. Phyllis Moldaw is known for her active participation and financial support of charitable and community organizations, particularly on behalf of the underprivileged and underserved people in our society. She was a lead donor for the Moldaw-Zaffaroni clubhouse of the Menlo Park Boys and Girls Club; a lead donor and board member of Moldaw Family Residences at Palo Alto’s Taube-Koret Campus for Jewish Life; and is a significant supporter of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art as well as many other charitable organizations. Ken Sletten was a partner, founder, and CEO of the general contracting firm Rudolph & Sletten, which is known for its construction of many large projects statewide including the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital, Skywalker Ranch, and several large educational and research facilities at Stanford, University of California, and other institutions. Not retired, Ken serves on the boards of Habitat for Humanity, Stanford Athletics, the Stanford Daper Investment Fund, and the Palo Alto Club.

Together, Boyd and Jill Smith have given back to our community in many ways. At Stanford, they co-endowed the Housing Assistance Program for families (Escondido Family Fund), the Martin Luther King Jr. Centennial Professorship Chair, and Martin Luther King Jr. student scholarships. Both were on the advisory board of Stanford’s Center for the Study of Families, Children and Youth, and together, they founded the Golden Gate Family Foundation and co-founded the California Family Foundation (CFF).
